Founded in 1901 as the Academy of Idaho, today’s Idaho State University (ISU) is nestled among the hills of Pocatello, Idaho. As the university has developed, it has branched out onto extension campuses located in Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, and Meridian, Idaho, near the state capital, Boise. The Idaho Falls campus is located 60 miles north of Pocatello at University Place, adjacent to the Russel A. Freeman Memorial park known for its great disc golf course. The three campus buildings house facilities used by both ISU and the University of Idaho based in Moscow. The campus supports students living and working in the Idaho Falls and surrounding areas.

Although ISU’s main campus in Pocatello has all the regular structures and services of any other state university, there are many advantages of attending ISU’s extension campus in Idaho Falls, both for students living in Idaho Falls and for those living in its surrounding communities.

This website includes several topics. It examines the advantages and disadvantages of attending the Idaho Falls extension campus. It also contains details on three specific degree programs that were numbered among the top ten offered on the Idaho Falls extension campus, according to Cathy Blair, Research Analyst for ISU: Nursing, Secondary Education, and Business (Blair). The report also covers some of the job outlooks for these three majors, looking at average yearly income and job projections.

To gather the information for this website, numerous sources were used. Interviews were
conducted with some of the ISU students and administrative staff. ISU's services, Web site,
and graduation requirements were researched. The Occupational Outlook Handbook and other
pertinent references were used.
